Instead of what we usually call “doing tourism”, travel.
Immerse yourself in local cultures, traditions and landscapes… always in a responsible way.
RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL GUIDELINES – VENTE A “CALEYAR”
To help with this, I’d like to share this Responsible Travel Guide, a simple list of good practices:
- Leave each place as good as, or better than, you found it, taking all waste with you.
- Do not touch or take anything from nature — everything belongs where it is.
- Do not interact with wildlife. Animals are at home and do not need to be disturbed.
- Take an interest in local culture and respect local customs.
- Support local businesses whenever possible.
- Encourage accessibility, so everyone can enjoy these places equally.
- Take photos only when it’s safe, both for you and for what you’re photographing.
- Experience as much as you can, always with respect.
- Care for the environment, so future generations can enjoy it too.
- And finally, keep certain places discreet — sometimes protecting a spot means not sharing its exact location, helping to avoid overcrowding.
We need to care for our surroundings if we want to keep enjoying them. These are just basic guidelines, but by following them, the journey becomes more meaningful and more beautiful.
Although there is always room for improvement, at Vente a “Caleyar” I aim to transform the word “tourism”—often viewed negatively in recent years—into something positive.
I do this by showing you Asturias from an ethical, respectful perspective, rooted in the land and its people.
The goal is not to feel like an outsider, but to be welcomed by local communities, to learn their traditions, share time together and enjoy the experience on both sides.
