TRADITIONAL ASTURIAN VILLAGES TOUR

Would you like to escape the noise, get closer to Asturian traditions and enjoy the calm of the inland countryside? This is the tour for you. We leave behind the most touristy areas of Asturias to explore small traditional villages such as Nava, Espinaréu and Torazu, as well as the natural area of La Pesanca.

Small Group Excursion – Full Day (Approx. 8 hours)

Join to a small-group tour with an official local guide and transport in a 9-seat Mercedes Vito minivan. Departure is around 09:30 am, with pick-up from your accommodation in Oviedo or Gijón (other options available on request).

Approximately 8 hours in total, this full-day tour costs €65 per person (VAT included) and is guaranteed with a minimum of 2 participants, so there’s no risk of cancellation.

If you prefer a fully private experience, you can also book the entire vehicle—feel free to contact me for details.

The drive is comfortable and relaxed, with explanations along the way about the places we pass through and curious facts about Asturias.

Nava

Our first stop is Nava, widely known as the cider capital of Asturias. Asturian cider was recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2024, and Nava plays a key role in keeping this tradition alive.

Here we visit the Cider Museum, the perfect place to understand why cider is much more than a drink in Asturias—it is part of its identity. You will also learn how to pour cider the traditional way. Entrance to the museum is included. In the unlikely event that the visit cannot take place due to unforeseen circumstances, the corresponding amount will be refunded.

Espinaréu

We then continue to Espinaréu, a village where history and tradition go hand in hand. This is our first close encounter with hórreos and paneras, traditional wooden granaries used for centuries to store crops and protect them from humidity and rodents.

La Pesanca

Next, we visit the natural recreational area of La Pesanca, where the Infierno River runs through a beautiful forest landscape. Despite its name, this peaceful setting feels straight out of Asturian folklore and mythology.

After a short walk in this magical environment, there is time to enjoy Asturian cuisine at a local restaurant (lunch not included).

Torazu

We end the Traditional Villages Tour in Torazu, listed among The Most Beautiful Villages in Spain and awarded “Exemplary Village of Asturias” in 2008 for preserving its traditions and strong community spirit. Here we continue discovering traditional Asturian architecture and village life.

Feel free to contact Vente a “Caleyar” for more information or to reserve your date.

And who knows…, maybe we’ll encounter a trasgu, the mischievous little goblin of Asturian folklore, in the forest!
